I was born in Chicago and raised by parents of German descent. My family moved to Southern California while I was a teenager, and I stayed there to earn my Bachelor's degree (BA, German) from UCLA. I studied abroad, and returned to California to earn my Master's degree (MA, German) at UC Berkeley.
Growing up in the '60s, I felt the need to explore, and I set forth for the beautiful Northwest. I discovered Astoria somewhat by chance, and fell in love. I have now resided in Astoria for 30 years. My two beautiful children, Laurel and Adam, were born and raised here.
